Green Stone Pearl Chandbalis

A wide chandbali built on green. The stud is a flower ringed with pearl beads and white stones around a green centre with ruby-red petals; the crescent below is filled with rows of white stones and green leaf-shaped stones, with a small pearl-tipped jhumka hanging at its heart. Deep green oval beads alternate with pearl clusters all along the lower edge, so the fringe carries the same colour the crescent does.

What makes this pair work

  • Green used as the main colour, not an accent. Most temple chandbalis are ruby-led. Green-led pairs are rarer and read as more striking against gold.
  • Pearls in the stud as well as the fringe. Repeating them at the top balances a heavy lower fringe, so the earring does not look bottom-loaded.
  • A hidden jhumka at the centre. The small bell inside the crescent adds a second point of movement, independent of the outer fringe.
  • Dense white stone work through the crescent keeps the piece bright even in the low light of an evening function.

How to style it

  • Green silk is the obvious partner — a bottle green or emerald-toned Kanjivaram or pattu, where the beads pull the colour straight from the saree.
  • Cream, ivory, gold and mustard are the better-looking choice, though. Against a pale silk the green becomes the only colour in the entire look, which is far more striking than matching.
  • Add a gutta poosalu or green-bead mala if you want a set — the bead colour repeats without the pieces being identical.
  • Keep the neck short or bare. A choker, a kante, or nothing. A long haram works too, as it sits well below the fringe.
  • Hair up or swept to one side, so the full width of the crescent shows.

Please note

This is premium imitation (fashion) jewellery. The green, red and white stones are decorative stones — they are not emeralds, rubies or diamonds, and are not sold as such. The pearls are pearl beads, not cultured or natural pearls. This is a standard finish, not an anti-tarnish or specially coated piece.

Caring for it

  • Put jewellery on last — after makeup, perfume and hairspray have fully dried — and take it off before bathing, exercise, swimming or sleeping.
  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear, and use a soft dry brush around the dense stone settings in the crescent.
  • Keep away from perfume, deodorant, creams, water, hot water, detergent, household chemicals and prolonged sweat. Do not wash or soak.
  • Store flat in an airtight box so the bead fringe does not tangle with other pieces.
  • Lift by the stud, not by the fringe or the inner jhumka.

Frequently asked questions

What colour saree goes with green stone earrings?
Two approaches work. Match — a green Kanjivaram or pattu, where the earrings pick the colour out of the fabric. Or contrast — cream, ivory, gold or mustard silk, which makes the green the single colour accent in the look. Contrast is usually the stronger result.

What is a chandbali earring?
A chandbali is built around a crescent-moon shape — chaand means moon, bali means earring. Originating in Mughal-era jewellery, it was absorbed into South Indian temple jewellery and is now among the most worn festive earring shapes.

Can I wear these with a green-bead mala?
Yes. A gutta poosalu or green-bead chain repeats the drop colour at the neck. Because the forms differ, the result looks coordinated rather than like a matched bridal set.

Are these suitable for Diwali, Dussehra and Navratri?
Yes. Green and gold is a classic Navratri and Dussehra pairing, and the stone work carries Lakshmi pooja and Diwali visits equally well.

Are the green stones real emeralds?
No. They are decorative green stones and green beads. They are not emeralds and are not sold as such — the same applies to the red and white stones.

Are the pearls real?
No. They are pearl beads, not cultured or natural pearls.

Is this jewellery anti-tarnish?
No. This is a standard gold-tone finish, not an anti-tarnish or specially coated piece. Wiping it dry after each wear and keeping it away from perfume and sweat is what extends the finish.
