Lakshmi Peacock Triple Cascade Jhumkas
These are statement temple jhumkas built for the bride, the bride's family and the most important festival days of the year. Each earring opens with a seated Goddess Lakshmi panel framed in a border of ruby-red oval stones and crowned with a green drop, flows into a pair of facing peacocks holding a green centre stone, and then falls into three separate strands of stacked jhumkas — every bell finished with a fringe of pearl drops.
What makes this pair special
- Goddess Lakshmi at the top. The sculpted Lakshmi motif seated on a lotus is the most auspicious image in South Indian temple jewellery — the natural choice for weddings, Varalakshmi Vratham, Diwali and griha pravesam.
- A ruby frame around the deity. The panel is outlined in close-set ruby-red ovals, giving the top the kemp-style colour that South Indian silk sarees are designed around.
- Twin peacocks as the connector. Two peacocks face each other across a green stone, linking the Lakshmi panel to the cascade below.
- Three strands of jhumkas, not one. Instead of a single bell, three columns of stacked jhumkas fall side by side, each tier ending in pearl drops. The result is length, volume and movement every time you turn your head.
Styling tips
- Best with Kanjivaram, pattu and heavy silk sarees in red, maroon, mustard, green or temple-border designs — the ruby and green stones pick up the zari and border colours.
- Let the earrings lead. These are long and full. Pair them with a short choker or attigai rather than a second statement necklace at the collarbone, or wear them alone with a long haram lower down.
- Hair up shows them best. A bun with flowers, a braid with jada or a sleek low bun keeps the cascade visible from the front and in side-profile photographs.
- Neckline: boat-neck, high-neck and closed-collar blouses leave space at the shoulder for the three strands to fall freely.
- Also works with a half saree (langa voni) or a silk lehenga for engagements, sangeet and reception looks.

Caring for it
- Put jewellery on last — after makeup, perfume and hairspray have fully dried — and take it off before bathing, exercise, swimming or sleeping.
- Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear; use a soft dry brush around the Lakshmi panel and peacock detailing.
- Keep away from perfume, deodorant, creams, water, hot water, detergent, household chemicals and prolonged sweat. Do not wash or soak.
- Store flat in an airtight box so the three jhumka strands do not tangle.
Frequently asked questions
What are Lakshmi temple jhumkas?
Lakshmi temple jhumkas are bell-shaped earrings that carry a sculpted image of Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of prosperity. Temple jewellery takes its name from the ornaments once made for temple deities, and Lakshmi motifs are the most popular choice for weddings and festivals.
Are these earrings suitable for a bride?
Yes. With a Lakshmi panel, a ruby frame and three strands of jhumkas, the Lakshmi Peacock Triple Cascade Jhumkas are scaled for bridal looks, as well as for the bride's mother, sisters and close family.
What saree goes best with these jhumkas?
Kanjivaram and pattu silk sarees in red, maroon, mustard, green or with temple borders. The ruby-red and green stones echo traditional silk saree colours.
Can I wear a necklace with these long jhumkas?
Yes, but let the earrings lead. A short choker or attigai, or a long haram that sits well below the collarbone, works better than a second heavy piece at the neck.
Which hairstyle suits cascade jhumkas?
Hair worn up — a bun, a flower-decorated braid or a low bun — keeps all three strands visible. With loose hair, the cascade tends to get hidden.
Can I wear these for Varalakshmi Vratham or Diwali pooja?
Yes. The Goddess Lakshmi motif makes them a meaningful choice for Varalakshmi Vratham, Diwali Lakshmi pooja and griha pravesam.
Are the red and green stones real rubies and emeralds?
No. They are decorative stones in the kemp style and are not sold as rubies or emeralds. This is premium imitation jewellery.
Are the pearls real?
No. They are pearl beads, not cultured or natural pearls.
Is this jewellery anti-tarnish?
No. This is a standard gold-tone finish, not an anti-tarnish or specially coated piece. Wiping it dry after each wear and keeping it away from perfume and sweat helps preserve the finish.
