Mehendi Green Bead Mala with Kundan-Style Pendant

Mehendi green is the olive-toned green of henna leaves — warmer and more muted than emerald, and the colour with the most direct claim on a mehendi ceremony. Fine strands of small green beads alternate with gold-tone pearls and fall to a slim kundan-style pendant set with clear stones and coloured drops.

What makes this piece work

  • A warm green, not a cool one. Mehendi green carries yellow rather than blue, which is why it sits so naturally against gold and against the mustard, rust and cream shades that dominate daytime function dressing.
  • A pendant, not a coin row. The slim vertical bar gives the necklace a focal point and a clean line, which is what makes a bead mala read as a designed piece rather than a strung one.
  • Beads and pearls alternating. Every strand runs green bead to gold-tone pearl and back, so the piece catches light along its whole length, not only at the centre.
  • Fine strands, close together. Small beads strung tightly, giving fullness without bulk.

What to wear this with

This is the piece for a mehendi or haldi morning, where green and yellow are the traditional colours and the light is natural. Beyond that it works with mustard, rust, olive, brown, cream, ivory and beige sarees, and gives the traditional contrast against red and maroon.

The muted tone also makes it one of the better pieces here for handloom weaves — Tussar, jute, khadi cotton — where a bright green would look synthetic against the texture.

Please note

This is premium imitation (fashion) jewellery. The pearls are pearl beads and the green beads are not emeralds. We say so plainly because we would rather you buy with a clear picture than be disappointed on delivery.

Caring for it

  • Store in an airtight box away from moisture and perfumes, laid flat rather than folded so the strands do not tangle.
  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear, and use a soft dry brush around the pendant setting.
  • Jewellery goes on last — after makeup, perfume and hairspray have dried — and comes off first, before bathing, exercise, swimming or sleeping.
  • Keep away from perfume, deodorant, creams, water, detergent, household chemicals and prolonged sweat. Do not wash or soak it.
  • Finish life varies with wear, climate and storage. We do not promise permanent shine — we give you the steps that genuinely extend it.

Frequently asked questions

What jewellery should I wear for a mehendi function?
Green is the traditional choice, and mehendi green most directly of all — it is named for the colour of henna. Because mehendi functions usually happen in daylight, a warm olive-toned green photographs better than a bright emerald, which can read harsh in sun.

How long is this necklace?
The side length is 34 cm and the total length is approximately 68 cm, which places it below the collarbone.

What is mehendi green?
It is the olive-toned green of henna leaves — warmer and more muted than emerald or bottle green, carrying yellow rather than blue. That warmth is what makes it sit comfortably with gold and with earthy saree colours.

Does this come with earrings?
No. This listing is for the necklace on its own. Message us on WhatsApp if you would like a coordinated earring suggestion.

Are these real pearls or emeralds?
No. These are pearl beads and green beads — premium imitation (fashion) jewellery.

Will this work with a handloom saree?
Particularly well. Muted colours sit better against texture than bright ones, so a mehendi green mala works with Tussar, jute and khadi cotton where an emerald piece would look out of place.
