Orange Bead Mala with Gold-Tone Pearls and Pendant

Amber orange is the colour of marigolds strung across a doorway and turmeric ground for a haldi. Fine strands of small orange beads alternate with gold-tone pearls and fall to a slim kundan-style pendant set with clear stones and a coloured drop. Warm on warm — the orange and the gold sit in the same family, so the whole necklace reads as one continuous glow rather than as a colour against a metal.

What makes this piece work

  • Orange and gold are the same temperature. Unlike a cool colour set against warm metal, these two belong together — which is why the piece looks richer than the sum of its parts.
  • A pendant, not a coin row. The slim vertical bar gives the necklace a focal point and a clean line, which is what makes a bead mala read as designed rather than strung.
  • Beads and pearls alternating. Every strand runs orange bead to gold-tone pearl and back, so the necklace catches light along its whole length.
  • Built for daylight. Orange comes alive in natural light, which is where most of the functions you would wear this to actually happen.

What to wear this with

Orange does its best work against green — bottle green, emerald and parrot green — which is the classic South Indian festive pairing. It also lifts teal, navy, maroon and deep red, and turns tonal on mustard, rust, cream and ivory.

This is the festival piece: Sankranti, Ugadi, Dasara and Diwali, haldi mornings, daytime functions, and weddings where you are a guest.

Please note

This is premium imitation (fashion) jewellery. The pearls are pearl beads, not cultured or natural pearls. We say so plainly because we would rather you buy with a clear picture than be disappointed on delivery.

Caring for it

  • Store in an airtight box away from moisture and perfumes, laid flat rather than folded so the strands do not tangle.
  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear, and use a soft dry brush around the pendant setting.
  • Jewellery goes on last — after makeup, perfume and hairspray have dried — and comes off first, before bathing, exercise, swimming or sleeping.
  • Keep away from perfume, deodorant, creams, water, detergent, household chemicals and prolonged sweat. Do not wash or soak it.
  • Finish life varies with wear, climate and storage. We do not promise permanent shine — we give you the steps that genuinely extend it.

Frequently asked questions

What jewellery should I wear for Sankranti or Ugadi?
Warm festival colours — orange, yellow and gold. Orange carries strong traditional associations with South Indian celebration, and it photographs well in the daylight those festivals usually happen in.

Does orange jewellery go with a green saree?
Yes, and it is one of the strongest pairings available. Orange against green is the classic South Indian festive contrast — warm against cool, with the gold tying the two together.

How long is this necklace?
The side length is 34 cm and the total length is approximately 68 cm, which places it below the collarbone.

Is orange suitable for a haldi function?
Very. Haldi ceremonies are built around yellow and orange, and they happen in daylight, where warm tones look their best.

Does this come with earrings?
No. This listing is for the necklace on its own. Message us on WhatsApp if you would like a coordinated earring suggestion.

Are these real pearls?
No. These are pearl beads — premium imitation (fashion) jewellery, not cultured or natural pearls.
