Twin Peacock Green Ruby Jhumkas

These are statement peacock jhumkas in the classic green-and-ruby palette of South Indian festive jewellery. A small stud of white stones with a green cabochon at its centre leads to two peacocks facing each other, their bodies paved in white stones with a green stone on each wing. Between them sits a large green teardrop framed in white stones, surrounded by a ring of ruby-red rounds and square white stones, with pearl drops along the edges. A jhumka set with green stones hangs below, finishing in a fringe of green beads.

What makes this pair special

  • Two peacocks, mirrored. The facing peacocks are a traditional symbol of grace and beauty in South Indian jewellery, and their white stone paving keeps them bright.
  • A big green teardrop at the heart. The central green stone is the focal point — it is what makes this pair read as “green jhumkas” from a distance.
  • Ruby and white geometry around it. Alternating ruby rounds and square white stones form a medallion that adds warmth to the green.
  • Green bead fringe instead of pearls. The jhumka ends in green bead drops, carrying the colour all the way to the bottom of the earring, while pearl drops at the sides of the medallion add softness.

Styling tips

  • Green, red, maroon and mustard silk sarees suit this pair best — the green and ruby stones pick up both border and body colours of most Kanjivaram and pattu sarees.
  • Contrast trick: a red or maroon saree with these green jhumkas is a timeless South Indian pairing; a green saree with them creates a tone-on-tone festive look.
  • Coordinate with a green or kemp necklace — a short choker or a mango mala — but keep it at the collarbone so it does not crowd the wide medallion.
  • Half saree and silk lehenga looks for engagements and festival days also work well.
  • Hair up — a bun or braid — keeps the peacocks and the green fringe in view.

Please note

This is premium imitation (fashion) jewellery. The green, red and white stones are decorative stones — they are not emeralds, rubies or diamonds, and are not sold as such. The pearls are pearl beads, not cultured or natural pearls. This is a standard finish, not an anti-tarnish or specially coated piece.

Caring for it

  • Put jewellery on last — after makeup, perfume and hairspray have fully dried — and take it off before bathing, exercise, swimming or sleeping.
  • Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear, and use a soft dry brush around the peacocks and the medallion.
  • Keep away from perfume, deodorant, creams, water, hot water, detergent, household chemicals and prolonged sweat. Do not wash or soak.
  • Store flat in an airtight box so the bead fringe does not tangle.

Frequently asked questions

What does the peacock motif mean in South Indian jewellery?
The peacock is associated with Lord Murugan and symbolises grace, beauty and abundance. It is one of the most loved motifs in temple and festive jewellery.

What saree goes with green and ruby jhumkas?
Red, maroon, green and mustard silk sarees. A red saree with green jhumkas is a classic contrast; a green saree creates a tone-on-tone look.

Are the Twin Peacock Green Ruby Jhumkas heavy-looking?
They are a statement pair with a wide medallion and a jhumka below, so they suit weddings, festivals and functions more than everyday wear.

Can I wear these with a necklace?
Yes — a short green or kemp necklace works well. Keep it close to the collarbone so it does not compete with the width of the earrings.

Do these suit a half saree?
Yes. The green-and-ruby palette pairs beautifully with silk half sarees (langa voni) for engagements and festivals.

Are the stones real emeralds or rubies?
No. They are decorative stones and are not sold as emeralds, rubies or diamonds. This is premium imitation jewellery.

Are the pearls and green beads real gemstones?
No. The pearls are pearl beads, not cultured or natural pearls, and the green drops are decorative beads.

Is this jewellery anti-tarnish?
No. This is a standard gold-tone finish, not an anti-tarnish or specially coated piece. Wiping it dry after each wear and keeping it away from perfume and sweat helps preserve the finish.
